kaherawaks: Someone I follow posted this photo of Tiny Tim, and it reminded me of one of my favourite stories from back in the day (1979 or 1980, I’m guessing). The story about how Tiny Tim hit on my Dad at Studio 54, after seeing my Dad’s long, beautiful dark hair, from afar. At least, that what’s my Mom says. She had similarly beautiful, long hair. He either invited my parents to his table, or sent them drinks, I forget which. I guess he was shocked when his ‘lovely lady’ turned out to be a long-haired indigenous man. Bwahahaha. My Dad did have gorgeous hair.  My parents said he was a swell guy, very gracious, if a bit ‘odd’. Little did they know that only a year or two later, they’d have an ‘odd’ daughter. In all fairness, good genes were aligned like so many planets on both sides of my family, ready to pass my parents’ best qualities on to me. WHAT HAPPENED, DAMMIT?  I’m a lazy writer with awful teeth, transparent ghost skin, and a nervous ADHD tic from childhood that resurfaces when I don’t take care of myself… Something I only recently discovered. It’s kind of gutting to realize that something you hated so much about yourself as a child is still there. It’s embarrassing. Mortifying, really. Tryouts for the human race, sometimes you make the team, even if you are ‘lesser than’…
